State Senator Keith Kelly, speaking at the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, provided a detailed legislative update. Highlighting key bills on gaming, education, economic development, and veteran support, Kelly emphasized Alabama’s path forward in fostering economic growth and enhancing community well-being.
The tranquility of Calhoun County, Alabama, was abruptly shattered between February 8th and March 12th, 2024, as a wave of property crimes swept through the region, leaving a trail of concern and uncertainty in its wake. At the forefront of these unsettling incidents was a series of thefts that rattled the community’s sense of security.
Among the most alarming reports was the disappearance of two U-Haul trailers from the Chevron station nestled along 30 Al HWY 204 in Wellington, Alabama. As the Sheriff’s Office delved into the details of these incidents, the gravity of the situation became increasingly apparent.
The first trailer, a modest 5’X8′ van trailer, adorned with a Florida license plate bearing the inscription “GFV797,” vanished without a trace. Meanwhile, a second trailer, distinguished by its ramp design, bore a Tennessee tag with the unmistakable label “6101trl.” The brazen nature of these thefts left residents and business owners alike on edge, prompting a concerted effort by law enforcement to apprehend those responsible and restore a sense of safety to the affected areas.
As the community grappled with the aftermath of these crimes, a collective determination emerged to stand united against such acts of wrongdoing. With each passing day, the resolve of the Sheriff’s Office only strengthened, fueled by a commitment to uphold justice and protect the well-being of Calhoun County’s residents.
